A Chicago man died Monday after he was shot multiple times in central Evanston, police said.

Officers found the 27-year-old man in a parked car in the 2000 block of Emerson Street when responding to many 911 calls of shots fired around 1:45 p.m. on Monday, police said. Fire department paramedics transported the man, who had multiple gunshot wounds, to Evanston Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, officials said.

Evanston detectives, along with the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force — which serves 13 communities around Evanston — are investigating the incident, police said. No one is in custody and no other information is being released at this time, officials said.
