I think it’ll be a low scoring affair. Northern Illinois has a pretty good run game, but their passing game is unproven. If NU can bare down on the run game, they’ll be able to stop speedster receivers Tommylee Lewis and Da’Ron Brown by making NIU’s offense predictable.

ALEX PUTTERMAN:​

Northwestern 21, NIU 17

I almost picked NIU to go against the grain and because it seems entirely possible NU is a very bad team. But it’s also possible the Cats are a decent team who had a bad week last week. And the Huskies aren’t too scary.

ZACH MOORE:​

Northwestern 38, NIU 31

Simply put, we need it more than they do.

BOBBY PILLOTE​:​

Northwestern 34, NIU 21

Yes, the loss to Cal was bad, but avoid the temptation to overreact. This is a still pretty talented NU team going up against an NIU squad that is now without the immense offensive production of graduated quarterback Jordan Lynch. The game may not be pretty, but the Wildcats will win by a double-digit margin.
