Evanston resident arrested in connection with obstructing justice

Police arrested an Evanston man Monday morning in connection with obstructing justice and driving on a suspended license.

The man, 36, was driving in the 200 block of Ridge Avenue at 8:50 a.m. Monday when an officer pulled him over for a routine traffic violation, Evanston Police Cmdr. Jay Parrott said. The man gave the officer a false name, initially unbeknownst to police, Parrott said. When the officer asked the man to follow him to the police station, the man drove in the opposite direction. Police caught up with the man and pulled him over again, and they subsequently charged him with obstructing justice and driving with a suspended license. The man’s license was suspended because of a DUI charge.

He is scheduled to appear in court June 11.
