City man arrested in connection with battery and aggravated assault

Officers arrested an Evanston man Wednesday afternoon after observing a disturbance between him and another man.

Jimmy Wysinger was arrested and charged Wednesday with aggravated assault and battery, Evanston Police Cmdr. Jay Parrott said. Officers saw Wysinger with a knife in hand arguing with another man in the 1000 block of Lake Street. Wysinger verbally threatened the other man and lunged at him with the knife, Parrott said. Officers arrested Wysinger after he refused to drop the knife upon request.

He is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 10.

Gang graffiti found in south Evanston

Police found gang graffiti in south Evanston on Thursday.

Markings were sprayed on a wall in the 1100 block of Dodge Avenue. The graffiti depicts a pitchfork with the tag “SGD,” a reference to the street gang the Spanish Gangster Disciples, Parrott said.
