Updated: Evanston woman shot near ETHS

A 21-year-old woman was shot early this morning near Evanston Township High School, police said.

The Evanston woman was shot in the right leg at about 2:40 a.m. in an alley in the 1700 block of Darrow Avenue, according to police. She was taken to Evanston Hospital with non-fatal injuries.

It does not appear the woman was the intended target, Evanston Police Cmdr. Jay Parrott said.

Police said two witnesses and the woman are not cooperating with the investigation into the shooting.

This is the second incident of gun violence this summer near ETHS, 1600 Dodge Ave. Last month, gunfire erupted during rush hour near the school. Multiple people were taken into custody, and a convicted felon was charged in connection with the incident.

Patrick Svitek contributed reporting.
